FREE SCENE
UNDER THE
CONES
In Bakhmut, our goal was not to design a stage with a narrow, singular function. Instead, we envisioned a versatile space that could be used for a variety of purposes and in unexpected ways. By immersing ourselves in the location for three days—experiencing sunrises and sunsets and observing how people interact with the environment—we uncovered numerous scenarios that naturally unfolded on-site.

The result is a space that caters to diverse needs: a pair of lovers stargazing, a group meditating at sunrise, or gatherings of 5, 10, 30, or even several hundred people. The design incorporates the existing greenery, natural terrain, and lighting to create additional visual effects. We treated all the wood to enhance its durability, and the burned wooden elements carry a deeper, metaphorical meaning for us: when wood burns, it lasts longer.
