ALTMAN
SQUARE
This project won first place in an open architectural competition to design a square dedicated to Nathan Altman. Our team was the only one to propose uncovering the Kalicha stream, which flows beneath the site, and successfully argued for its integration. The square was envisioned as part of a larger green corridor connecting to the South Buh River, with a focus on climate resilience and biodiversity enhancement. An innovative rainwater drainage system was also a key feature of the design.

A deep exploration of the site’s history and context informed symbolic landscape and design solutions. The work of Nathan Altman, who was born and worked in Vinnytsia, was represented through three functional installations showcasing different periods of his artistic career. The design also balanced active spaces at the center with quieter zones around the edges, addressing the needs of nearby residents.
