The Whirlwind Installation
Authors: Roman Sakh, Kostyantyn Kuchabskyi
The Whirlwind Installation was set up as a sample of digital sculpture and its aesthetics of informational perception of the visual representation. The shape is a result of computer calculation via software tool, which was programmed specifically for this installation. The included code one can read in the object’s morphology, therefore the shape is a multipurpose sign for the message included inside.
The installation is based on the vortex flow simulation, surface triangulation and on the differentiation of every plane according to the level of absorbed solar radiation within its geometrical location.
The production of the object was simplified by computer algorithm. Using only the model the algorithm provides an opportunity to get a drawing for milling of the pre-assembled units which unite further in integral design.
