The abandoned cinema Yerevan is situated on Chokolovka next to our platform and it was interesting for us as an object with potential for revitalization. When we were asked to use it and another part of the building to create a scientific hub, we realized that the moment had come. In addition to the cinema itself, the reconstruction project included two more blocks: the first floor of the research institute, in the same building and several garages in the yard.

The task was to develop in a short time a comprehensive project whose main goal is to popularize science among different age and social groups, from children to the elderly. Create a comfortable environment for the work and interaction of scientists. Each block of premises received a certain function. The hall of the cinema should become the main communication center, the first floor of the institute (Collab) - coworking for scientists, and the garage block in the courtyard is reconstructed into the Fablouse workshop (FabHouse).

Coworking

Coworking divided for two zones - closed, for permanent residence and work of the scientists on projects and open, with access for all comers. For general access infrastructure for the small events, a library, a place for recreation and a kitchen block were located in the core. The stylistic decision arose from the inspiration from Soviet design, which can be traced throughout the building
